Specs’ Breakdown

1. Uniswap Labs receives Wells notice from the SEC

⌐◪-◪ → Uniswap Labs just received a Wells notice from the SEC, signaling a potential incoming lawsuit — causing $UNI to drop 13%.

This is likely the beginning of a multi-year war on DeFi, that could frankly go all the way to the Supreme Court.

It’s frustrating to see the SEC go after reputable companies like Coinbase and Uniswap while letting bad actors like FTX slip by.

Inventor of the Uniswap protocol and CEO of Uniswap Labs Hayden Adams tweeted, “I’m not surprised. Just annoyed, disappointed, and ready to fight.”

The full tweet is worth a read and shows Hayden’s tremendous level of transparency and deep-rooted web3 values. He makes no effort to hide that the Uniswap Labs team is here in the U.S. and explains why they chose to stay and fight the good fight.

Honestly, the tweet gave me chills and I couldn’t agree with Hayden more. We are on the right side of history, and it’s time to take a stand.

For a more detailed breakdown, check out Adam Cochran’s tweet.

The war on DeFi begins.

2. Qatar rumored to own 59,000 Bitcoin

⌐◪-◪ → Remember when Edward Snowden said that this year a national government will be revealed to have been buying Bitcoin?

Well, it looks like he was right — and many think it’s Qatar.

The wallet just bought another 100 BTC, bringing its holdings to 59k BTC which is $4,180,209,000. For context: If they were a Bitcoin ETF, they’d be the 4th largest.

  1. Grayscale → $24.33B

  2. BlackRock → $17.24B

  3. Fidelity → $9.9B

  4. ARK → $2.85B

  5. Bitwise → $2.16B

Meanwhile, Wall Street firms with $15B in combined AUM just started buying BTC via the spot Bitcoin ETFs.

We now have banks, corporations, and entire nations purchasing Bitcoin. Next week the Hong Kong Bitcoin ETFs may be approved, and the halving is upon us (8 days).

The Great Bitcoin Race is on.

3. Keyboard Cat NFT sells for $126k on Foundation

⌐◪-◪ → The famous Keyboard Cat video just sold as an NFT on foundation for $126k.

This isn’t the first major memecoin-related NFT sale either, last month we saw:

  • GCR’s legendary $4.3M purchase of the Dogwifhat meme

  • Andrew Kang’s purchase of the OG PEPE from the 3AC Estate

Haters will say "it's just a video" and that anybody can "right-click and save that". Meanwhile, collectors are accumulating 1:1s of the most legendary moments in internet culture.

I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but “right click and save” is peak mid-curve by normies. Go take a picture of the Mona Lisa and see how that pans out for ya.
