⌐◪-◪ → GameStop ($GME) is back as RoaringKitty returns to X with his first tweet since June 18, 2021. The tweet depicts a man leaning forward in his gaming chair, signaling increased focus/attention.

For those who don’t know, RoaringKitty is the Reddit mod who went viral and kickstarted the $GME stock frenzy during COVID, they made entire documentaries on this man. Now, he’s done it again.

Here’s a quick recap on $GME’s madness yesterday:

• Closed up 75% yesterday

• Spoked as much as 119%

• Short sellers lose $1B (RIP Wall Street)

• Over 175M shares have exchange

• Trading paused 9x times so far

Meanwhile, degens are pumping $GME memecoins on Solana 460% despite no relation to GameStop and Andrew Tate vowed to sell $500k BTC to go “all in” on GameStop to “take down Wall Street”.

While this definitely feels like a top signal, I still think crypto has plenty of room to run this cycle.

Regardless, one thing is for sure — study the $GME saga because it will go down in history as the textbook definition of meme financial markets. The pen is mightier than the sword.

⌐◪-◪ → Tornado Cash developer Alexey Pertsev was just found guilty of money laundering by a Dutch court and sentenced to 64 months in prison.

Many are upset about the decision as it infringes on our right to financial privacy and therefore financial freedom.

The argument being made is basically, “None of the good guys can have on-chain privacy, because bad guys might use it to do bad things”.

This echoes many other situations where tools or public infrastructure are used for criminal activity, like using the internet to sell drugs or a gun to kill someone.

When you think about it this way, you’ll start to understand why this isn’t about protecting the people or preventing crime, it’s about control.

Meanwhile, Roman Storm is facing similar allegations of money laundering and sanction violations here in the US this September.

⌐◪-◪ → Vitalik just proposed EIP-7706, a potentially groundbreaking improvement to Ethereum’s gas fee structure.

He proposes a third gas category for transaction calldata. Currently, Ethereum transactions involve 2 main types of data:

• Execution: for the computational effort to process a tx

• Storage: for storing data, particularly with “blobs”

Vitalik wants to dedicate a new gas type for calldata - with hopes of reducing gas fees for data-heavy transactions that aren’t computationally intensive.
