Specs’ Breakdown

1. $DJT memecoin surges 1,450% on rumors of links to Trump

⌐◪-◪ → Solana memecoin $DJT is taking the market by storm on rumors that it’s the “official” token for the Trump campaign.

The rumor started from this post by Pirate Wires, though it lacks any substantial evidence.

Adding to the confusion, Pirate Wires’ editor-in-chief Mike Solana (and CMO at Founder Fund) followed up, clarifying that while they “didn’t speak with Trump directly” they are just reporting what they know “via sources”.

Meanwhile, other PoliFi tokens are down double digits — showing you how quickly the attention economy can move on mere rumors.

Do I think the rumor is true? NO.
Is it possible? YES, nothing surprises me anymore.

Let me know what you think in Specs Chat.

2. Elon Musk's Twitter/X to debut 'Financial Ecosystem' in US

⌐◪-◪ → Elon’s plans to turn X into the “everything” app are well underway, as X’s CEO Linda Yaccarino says payments are a “fast-approaching” feature.

The company has already been approved for money transmitter licenses in 28 states and aims to launch payment services nationwide after getting licensed in all 50 states.

Imagine getting tipped for spaces, paid in crypto for quality posts, or directly buying/selling items (like Farcaster frames) in your feed.

X-Payments could seriously change the game, leveling the competition for direct competitors like Venmo, Zelle, Cash App while setting a new bar for what crypto/web3.

The real question is — will it involve $DOGE?

3. Chinese Telecom giant to spend $13.5M on BTC mining rigs

⌐◪-◪ → Chinese Telecom Giant Coolpad, which has traditionally focused on smartphone production, announced plans to spend $13/5M on Bitcoin mining rigs in North America.

This comes after the company announced a $28M investment plan to purchase shares in NASDAQ companies like CleanSpark, ARK BTC ETF, Bitwise, and more.

They aren’t the only Telecom company eyeing Bitcoin either, T-Mobile’s parent company Deutsche Telekom just announced it’s running Bitcoin and Lightning network nodes.

Now, in addition to companies copying MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin strategy, we have legitimate industrial owners/operators — with relevant experience — transitioning to Bitcoin mining.

First corps, then banks, then States, then Nations.
